Board Game: Heat: Pedal to the Metal

• The more arms you have, the harder it is to control them all. The latest example of this phenomenon comes from the revelation by the Spanish branch of Asmodee of the upcoming expansion for Heat: Pedal to the Metal from Asger Harding Granerud, Daniel Skjold Pedersen, and Days of Wonder.

Heat: Lluvia Torrencial (“Torrential Rain”) includes two new circuits on a double-sided board, with the rain-drenched Japanese Grand Prix having puddles in the corners to complicate braking and the Mexican Grand Prix having multiple corners and chicanes. The expansion also includes a seventh player color, with components for that player as well as new improvement cards and other elements.

Spanish retail sites have mostly pulled the listing for this item, along with Asmodee Editions Iberica, but from what I’ve seen, the expansion appears due for an end of February 2024 release, which would suggest that it will debut at the FIJ 2024 game fair in Cannes, France.

• In 2024, Joshua Van Laningham and Level 99 Games will release two expansions that can be used with either Bullet♥︎ or Bullet⭐. Both Bullet Paw and Bullet Palette contain four new heroines — the former cat-based ones, the latter artistic ones — that give you new ways to throw bullets at one another with claws, paint, tails, sounds, and more.

• Sébastien Dujardin of Pearl Games has posted a teaser pic of cards that might be part of a Troyes expansion down the road. Notes Dujardin (in translation): “It’s 100% proto. We’re only interested in the effects at the moment, and there’s still a lot of work to do.”

Bernd Eisenstein of Irongames is testing a new game board for the second edition of Pandoria, a co-design from him and Jeffrey D. Allers, for release in 2024.
