INTRO

Hi Everyone!

We are a team of three right now.   One dev, one artist, and me.

This is a more modest game than the one I envisioned.   The working title is HUNGRY HORSES – KNIGHT’S TOUR.

At first, it was a mini-game in side of a more ambitious Sim-World project which I imagined.  But after expending quite a bit of time trying to get funding, and probably getting swindled by one company that said would help find an investor, I decided to self-finance.

We are probably about half way done (maybe a bit more) with “Hungry Horses”.

The games (both my original idea and Hungry Horses) have to do with Chess. ♙♜♘♝♕♚

We hope to take advantage of the soaring popularity of chess.  (Side note:  I’m the founder of a local chess club, a USCF certified tournament director, and a coach to a few kids and adults.  I’m not some super player, but probably on the advanced side of intermediate.)

Anyway, Hungry Horses – Knight’s Tour:

You practice moving the Knight to a target.  New players seem to struggle with the knight more than other pieces.  Aside from that, we have quite challenging puzzles (see the third picture above) for more advance folks.  And aside from that, I think I stumbled upon a very charming story which gives the game a good, uplifting soul.

I discovered this legend, after which the small town of Hungry Horse, Montana is named:

We’re building for Android first.  After that we’ll go where ever it makes sense.  Your advice is very welcome.

We already have a working version.  All three modes – Quest, Casual, Daily – are working.  Most of the work now is building in monetization levels, and  finishing and adjusting the graphics.

I have a hard time feeling satisfied with the look/feel.  I want it to be a cartoon, but not too childish.  I also have different visions for monetization.

INITIAL TRIAL

It seemed like it was super popular among the kids at my chess club, though that’s a small sample size, and they were a captive audience.

Anyway, I’ll try to post here regularly.  Maybe I’ll elaborate on the game I want to build, or on my fundraising mis-adventures.

Comments welcome.

Cheers!
