And now you can breathe a sigh of relief: if the 2025 release window did not make it obvious enough, GTA 6 will be a current-gen-only game. It’s not getting a PS4 version; the game is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. That also means it’s not releasing on PC day and date with the console versions.
In a press release from Take-Two, it’s said: “Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems in 2025.”
Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser then adds: “Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
When we polled Push Square users on the possibility of a PS4 version, it was generally agreed GTA 6 likely wouldn’t launch on Sony’s old system. However, 26 per cent of you still returned a vote to say it would probably happen. PS5 users can now rest easy knowing GTA 6 won’t have to accommodate for hardware released in 2013 — the same year GTA 5 released!
