The official GTA 6 trailer upload from Rockstar Games is sitting at over 110 million views at the time of writing, and it’s set multiple new world records along the way. Guinness World Records has officially recognised three world records set by the GTA 6 trailer, covering its first 24 hours of availability, likes, and views outside of the video game sphere.
Having accrued 90,421,491 views within the first 24 hours it was uploaded to YouTube, the GTA 6 trailer now holds the world record for the “most viewed videogame reveal on YouTube in 24 hours”. 8.9 million likes in that same timeframe also made it the “most liked videogame trailer on YouTube”. Finally, the GTA 6 trailer became the most-viewed YouTube video within a 24-hour period that isn’t related to music. BTS song Butter still holds the world record when music is included, but GTA 6 now takes the crown otherwise.
The trailer blew its competition to pieces, with the former record holder being Mr Beast, who accrued 59.4 million views inside 24 hours for his “Every Country On Earth Fights For $250,000” video. With the PS5 title not set to release until 2025, it’s anyone’s guess when the next trailer will be released. Though, it probably won’t make quite the same splash as this first one. 10 years of waiting since PS3’s GTA V has resulted in one of the planet’s biggest-ever video gaming moments.
