Nice first steps, I actually had fun. I just have few notes:
– I didn’t like the camera rotation speed: When rotating/turning, I wished the camera followed the character rigidly (or at least faster). It made the game harder for sure.
– Turning speed could be slightly faster, maybe…
– The info cube text should linger at least a little: I made it to the “unreachable cube on wall”, but I wasn’t able to stop there and couldn’t read the text in time.
Otherwise I liked it, keep up the good work.
Hello and thanks for this valuable feedback, it’s my first 3D Godot project indeed
A lot of things are still to be made in the game and among them, a SETTINGS menu in which you can change camera parameters (tilt, translation lag, rotation lag, and so on). I was pretty sure the default settings wouldn’t fit all players so I started the project with “average” values and planned to let the player change them later if he wanted. I’m not sure I will allow him to keep the camera “rigid” but there will be “tighter” settings for sure.
I don’t think Hop’s controls will change a lot because map layout is based on his physical capabilities (like in Hop! 2D, did you try it ?). I don’t know if you noticed it but Hop can quickly turn around using both UP and DOWN arrow keys (an indication you get from one of the first infocubes), which may help you get faster in some cases.
You can go back to every infocube to see its message displayed again, it’s not a question of time. I thought I’d stick to this but there may be a better way so feel free to suggest what you think is best in this case (maybe a bigger “detection radius” to display messages ?).
By the way, did you manage to end the training course ? Please send me a screenshot if you do (F12 key by default) !
Thanks again, I know there is still a LOOOOT of work ! I will include your name in the future CREDITS menu.
