This might be an unpopular take but I just don’t really get the appeal.

I mean, yes, it’s a Bethesda release with a HUGE world and theoretically infinite content… but I don’t quite get the appeal of theoretically infinite content. Infinite planets, infinite fetch quests, and infinite opportunities to struggle with FOMO, the fear of missing out.

I’d rather play a shorter game for 8 to maybe 15, 20, 30 hours or longer… than a game that could take thousands of hours to complete.

I don’t think that I really need those thousands of hours in my life. Heck, I’m not even sure if I have those thousands of hours in my life. When would I ever get to play this?

Not to mention that I am not actually sure whether or not my PC could possibly run the game.

But also, I haven’t really heard much about Starfield until a month or so ago. Just the other day, I was told about a 200$ ship that you can buy in-game – but that was Star Citizen. A friend of mine messed that up. Starfield doesn’t have that. But it may very much have microtransactions, or at least a lot of news sites are reporting on it having that label on its store page. Guess there really isn’t much else to report on, eh?

Anyhow, Starfield probably just isn’t for me. I don’t get it, I don’t think, and whenever someone tries to explain it to me, it just sounds like No Man Sky but with a bigger budget and RPG mechanics or something.

But I also don’t think that every game has to be for me, obviously, and that’s very much common sense. I don’t like red beets and I hate spiders and I suck at platformers. Not everything has to be for me…

Thus (which is btw the actual point of this post), I wish all the people who are starting to play it a wonderful time exploring the buggy space. I hope there are no space spiders.
