One of Mortal Kombat 1’s big draws is Invasions mode, a seasonal activity where players can battle remixed kombatants and powerful bosses to unlock a bunch of in-game goodies. Your opponents in MK1’s Invasions have all kinds of special powers, and some of them can feel downright unfair. Developer NetherRealm Studios tries to balance Invasions’ challenge by giving players some superpowers of their own. One of the most deadly, but certainly not silent, is an ability called Windbreaker that lets fighters pass a toxic green gas.

Windbreaker has become some players’ go-to method for cheesing Mortal Kombat 1’s hardest Invasions bosses, including Titan-class versions of General Shao and Baraka.

In fact, here’s a recent video of a player taking down Titan Shao, aka The Konqueror, simply by ripping a couple screen-filling toots:

Windbreaker doesn’t normally cloud the entire screen with a fart cloud as shown in the above clip. The player responsible, Reddit user abeta_94, used dozens of in-game items to upgrade their Windbreaker talisman’s damage, size, and number of charges. Typically, it’s much more modest in volume.

But even a normal-sized Windbreaker fart can take down a tough variant like Invasions’ current season boss, Bloodthirsty Nitara. Here’s a video of recent MK1 addition Omni-Man ass-blasting Nitara into submission with Windbreaker:

Exploiting Windbreaker to defeat Mortal Kombat 1’s most annoying Invasions challenges has been going on for months — ever since players discovered the Windbreaker talisman in Shang Tsung’s Lab and just how much excessive damage it does.

Windbreaker has also become a viable strategy for farming XP in Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasions, which can be a huge grind.

And just for kicks, here’s every Mortal Kombat 1 character from the game’s base roster using Windbreaker.

For Mortal Kombat fans who don’t want to resort to fatal farts to cheese the game’s bosses, many are also using the War Horn talisman to great success. That item lets players summon an army of pint-sized Barakas to take bosses down at the knee. It also fills the screen with spears, resulting in some serious slowdown if spammed endlessly.

You can see War Horn in action in the video below.
