I’m struggling mentally and physically.

I’ve had a hard time finding an apartment for ages now… and I was convinced that it would just work out as long as I kept messaging people about their apartment offers. It’s bound to work out, right? I’ve only been searching for a year and a few months whilst hoping for the best.

So, today, I wanted to ramble a bit about my situation before I talk about my plans for Twitch (and the blog) and what the break is gonna look like.

Apartment Search? Failed.

Well, I need to move out by the end of the month.

The new tenant is moving in Early October, the new semester is starting mid-October, and my contract ends by the end of this month.

Frankly, it’s unlucky. I’ve been unlucky.

Friends of mine tried attributing my failure to find an apartment to racism or at least an unconscious bias… but I don’t wanna think about that. My having a migration background and a foreign name shouldn’t be the reason why I’m not getting the apartments.

At least, I try to assume positive intent whenever I can. I’ve visited only around 27 apartments in the past half-year and I’ve messaged dozens more without getting a reply, let alone a positive one.

Whatever.

Here’s my plan:

I’m going to get ready to move out of this place. I need to repaint the walls, clean up the place, get my furniture out of here, and do all that before October starts.

That said, where will I go?

Well, I’ll visit my family for a while and then once it gets closer to the new semester starting, I’ll move into my uncle’s basement.

My uncle lives not too far away from my city, actually, but by bus and train, it takes around two hours to get there… and another two to get back.

So, for the time being, I’ll just have to travel from my uncle’s place to my university for two hours, based on how the train connection goes… every morning. And then in the afternoon or evening, I’ll go all the way back for another two hours. Yay.

It’s but a temporary solution, obviously. I’ll still look for new apartments but this essentially will mean that I’ll have to spend a lot of time with transit – and that means that other hobbies, such as blogging and streaming may suffer while I figure things out.

Speaking of which…

Streaming and Blogging plans

I don’t think blogging is gonna get affected all that much by this.

I’ll be able to write some blog posts on my laptop while I’m at my family’s. Fine.

What I do not know is whether or not I’ll still have my computer at my uncle’s place.

Without my computer, I’m not sure if I can play any games to then write about them… at least, I’m unsure whether my laptop can handle video games.

Similarly, I don’t think I’ll be able to stream.

I don’t think the laptop is made for that, first up, but also I doubt that streaming will be an option in my uncle’s basement for a plethora of reasons.

• New Busy Semester
• Transit Times
• Noise + Kids

To just barely make it to university at 8 AM on some days, I’ll have to get going before 6 AM, meaning I have to get up on those days around 5 AM. Fun.

The semester will be really busy again, as always, so the added transit times of two hours to and from my university will leave me with a lot less time than this semester had, and thus I’ll have to pause streaming or reduce it a lot.

So, if I do get to keep my computer at my uncle’s place, I could theoretically stream on certain days if I do find the time to do so. Just in theory.

But my uncle has kids that are quite young and if I were to stream still, I’d probably only be able to do so in the evenings and only if I don’t have uni on the next day. Buuut I’d possibly create noise by doing so which could be a bother for my uncle and his family.

In essence, I’ll be back eventually!

Once I find a new place, I’ll have to move into that, settle in and figure out a schedule first, I reckon, but I’ll definitely be back.

I’ll just need to take a step back until then.

I love streaming. I love the community we built so far. I’d hate to have to give it up completely… but for the time being, I won’t be able to stream, I reckon.

My father will help me move stuff away from this apartment on Tuesday, so I’ll try and go live tonight (aka once this post goes live), tomorrow (aka Sunday the 16th) and maybe on Monday (aka the 17th). But after that, I’m unsure when I’ll be back again.

I’m sorry for the short notice on this. I’m sorry for having to take a step away like this.
