I’m excited to annouce a new project I am working on: The Legend of Athea.

The game is a mix between a breakout-style game and a strategy game. There is also some hands on action mixed in to keep the player always engaged. The main gameplay is that there is a battle between your army and the enemy army. Throughout the battle a fireball is flying around the battlefield, hurting everything in it’s path. You must use your magic shield to reflect it or it will destroy the defences you have built up.

The full game will include:
-Multiple battles to fight.
-New buildings and units to unlock.
-Unique giant bosses for every stage.
-A story-based campaign involving multiple fantasy lands.

That’s the idea. The fireball can be used for good or evil haha I think it adds a nice action element and something else to effect the battlefield.

I like the twist and the idea that you need to protect the area at the bottom.

I think that your sprites will look better (especially bigger ones) if you commit to one source light point. It’s best to keep it at the top, especially since you already have shadows at the bottom. This should be applied to buildings as well.

Adding some shadows under the characters (in the same way as you have done with bosses) will make them more grounded visually.

Also, dark text in your main menu is not very readable against darker gray, even though you have those brighter outlines. It’s worth that you experiment further with that.

Here’s a fast edit with some suggestions related to the above light source position comment (I didn’t want to change the designs just, just give suggestions). I hope it will be helpful.

Last set of buildings! The game is nearing completion!

Demolitionist:

These units strike the ground with their hammers damaging everything nearby.


Mine:

All adjacent unit special abilities are activated 20% faster (doesn’t stack).
